True Blue {Blogger’s Quilt Festival}

If you are here for the first time (perhaps via Amy’s Bloggers Quilt Festival), Welcome to Sleepy Owl Studio!

Lots of big changes are happening here currently, but I still couldn’t resist taking a break to participate.

This week, I’m sharing True Blue, the quilt I made for the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild Binary Challenge at the end of 2013.

From the first to the last stitch, I loved making this quilt. Maybe it’s because it was my second attempt at the challenge (after a lemon first attempt that will eventually be lemonade), but it just felt right from the start.

Fabrics are Kona Snow and Pacific, both of which are favorites.

The design is a traditional feathered star, rescaled with EQ7. The inset diamond border is my own (love a math challenge!). Quilting it was a collaboration with Krista Withers, and only proves the theory that quilting with friends is magical. She’s a genius and an inspiration to work with.

True Blue is faced rather than bound.

I have just the place in my new studio for this quilt ~ can’t wait to get it hung and enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting ~ I hope you’re having as much fun exploring all the amazing quilts as I am!

    Lovely quilt. Two color quilts are so striking- traditional and modern at the same time.
