20-11HM – Week 2
I needed a couple fabrics last weekend, so I placed an order with Pink Chalk Fabrics. I love ordering from Kathy. They’re local, and depending on how early in the day I order, I can count on having a package on my doorstep within a day or two at the most. I took the opportunity to buy some of the new flannels from Robert Kaufman, and since I’m working on baby/mom/gran projects this month, I picked colors that I thought would coordinate with Bailey’s quilt.
I think I like this fabric, but flannels are tricky. These had a very stiff hand before pre-washing, but improved after. They picked up a lot of lint from each other (the brown is on everything), but I’m hoping a lint roller will help. Hindsight being a wonderful thing, I’ll probably serge the edges next time before washing. Like the red Kona cottons I prewashed for Ben’s quilt, there was a lot of untangling and trimming strings between the washer and dryer, and again after drying.
I’m working on couple projects to share this week, but my weekend didn’t exactly turn out as planned. More to come….
