11.13 Moody Blues Bee blocks

Remember these? They’re the fabrics I chose for my month of the Moody Blues Bee.

I cut lots of strips, and sent them out with instructions to make modern log cabin blocks. Every time one of the finished blocks came in the mail, I got more excited. They’re fantastic!

This week, I started playing with the blocks on my (new!) design wall. I started with straight sets, experimented with different widths and colors of sashing:

It just wasn’t working for me. Pretty, because the blocks are, but not quite right. So I tried on-point:

I’m thinking narrow (1″ or less) sashing strips, maybe some smaller blocks or applique in the setting trianges, all on  a white field. I’ll need to make 4 more blocks for this layout, but these are fun and easy blocks. The blue and white print on the design wall is the backing fabric. It’s a Joel Dewberry print, as are most of the fabrics in the quilt, and I’m crazy about it.

I love having a plan.
