Finished: Midnight Garden

This quilt was so much fun. I’ve talked about it before, and if you’ve been watching I’ve snuck more than a couple photos onto the blog. But tomorrow it goes to work with me, and I get to hang it in my new cubicle. Midnight Garden is 25″ square, done in batiks and a handful of Kaffe Fassett prints. Most of the quilting was done on my HQ16. Below are a few photos, but if you’d like to see more, check it out on my Flickr set.

The flowers are from a beautiful book by Kumido Sudo, Flower Origami. It was published in 2004, and a couple years later I was lucky enough to find a set of the plastic templates that are a companion to the book. Absolutely not necessary, but nice to have. Other than the flower templates, and some of the leaf shapes, the quilt is my design.

It would be fair to say I found the completion of this quilt cause for a bit of celebration.

I have the pleasure of working in the same office as this talented woman (she also happens to be my bff and sister-in-law, lucky me!) and this wall quilt is absolutely stunning! Thank you Sandi for sharing it with all of us here! xxxooo
