Sprinting to the middle

Ten days to the halfway point in the year. I could keep things on cruise, but I thought I’d break things up with a little sprint. 10 days, 8 projects finished.  Can it be done? Maybe.  Will I have fun trying? Absolutely!

  1. Definitely Red (binding)
  2. Curious Nature (binding)
  3. Min’s quilt (binding)
  4. Square-in-a square (binding)
  5. Urban runner (quilt, bind)
  6. Bumbershoots (quilt, bind)
  7. Leaf Love (piece, quilt, bind)
  8. Urban Innocence (quilt, bind)

Stay tuned ~ this could get interesting!

Sew-Up Summer

Even now, with our kids grown and out of the house, I feel like the true start of the year is the beginning of  school. Here in the PNW, it’s most often mid-week after Labor Day. All the back-to-school sales have started, and I have this instinctive urge to get prepared. So this weekend I kicked off  “Sew-up Summer” in the studio.  The goal is to finish as many projects as possible between now and Labor Day, when the new year starts.

Anybody want to play along? We’ll keep it really simple – you get to decide what your goal is,  and what the reward will be.  It doesn’t have to be quilting or knitting, either. Closet-cleaning deserves to be rewarded, or maybe it’s finishing the school shopping. What’s on your list that will make you feel terrific to cross off? Ponder it a bit, and if you want to play, leave me a comment. Tell me what’s on your list and what you’re planning as a well-deserved reward.

The official kick-off is today, August 2nd, but you could start at any time.  Five weeks, ending on Labor Day (September 6th).  I’ll check in with you on Mondays and we can share progress.

Here’s a badge (if you want one) that will link you back here, and the code (I may have to tweak it, so let me know if it doesn’t work for you!):

My list is crazy-long, but it’s full of fun. I don’t know that it’s prioritized exactly right, and depending on how the next week or so goes I have a couple other in-progress projects I’d love to add, but I’ll be one happy girl if come Labor Day these are crossed off:

  1. Binding on the SMQG project.
  2. Quilt and bind Ashlee’s Baby Bali quilt
  3. VQB blocks/swaps for August (Moody Blues, {Modern 12}, Pins & Needles, Bee There or Bee Square, Postcard Swap)
  4. Make the last 4 blocks for the July {Modern 12} quilt.
  5. Quilt and bind Zach’s quilt
  6. Quilt and bind Amanda’s quilt
  7. Finish piecing Diana’s quilt
  8. Quilt and bind Beth’s quilt

And the reward, besides a wonderful sense of accomplishment? It just might be sitting on a deck and watching the sunset over the ocean. Wouldn’t that be a great way to kick off the new year?
