About Me
Welcome to Sleepy Owl Studio!
What do I think you should know about me? I’ll start with the basics. I’m a 40-something, racing willy-nilly into becoming a 50-something. I married my best friend (and the cutest guy I ever met!) over 30 years ago. Together we raised 2 smart, funny, incredible children.
I work full time with people I adore (the work not so much), so the time I get to spend on fiber arts is precious to me. While I’ve sewed for nearly 40 years, quilting is really my passion, especially in the past 10 years. I own a mid-arm quilting maching (HQ16), which I continue to find both challenging and rewarding to use even after several years. I gift most of my quilts to family, friends and at least one auction each year. A couple years ago, I learned to knit. It’s brought so much to my life - beautiful yarns, amazing designs, and wonderful, generous and spirited knitters. Plus it’s a bit more portable than quilting. I feel blessed.
I have lots of (I think) great ideas for what I want this blog to be, and I’ll share them as time goes by. Comments and questions will always be welcome.
Thanks for visiting!

Sandie, It’s 6 am on Monday 5/17/10 and I am so enjoying your new blog. You are such a creative and talented woman and I’m very happy to be included in your list of friends. This is a wonderful idea and I know you will have lots of fun with building this blog and meeting new people thru it. Keep up the great job.
Hey Sami:
Cool blog. I will be checking it regularly, even though I do not have even one iota of the skills you have!
Love you,
Beth ;0)

Sandie,
Beautiful quilts!!! I love you, sister <3
Thank you. I got the rest of the fabric for Bailey’s quilt this week, so that’s my next project. I’m so excited!
ILY, 2, my forever-sister <3
Hey, I am glad to have found your blog. We are pretty close to being neighbors, as I live up in Snohomish. Actually I’m closer to Machias, but most people don’t know where that is; kinda halfway between Lake Stevens and Snohomish. I am a Pharmacy Tech for Bartells, as well as a mother, friend, grandmother, aunt and ex-wife. I love to create, anything, anytime I have the time, which isn’t often enough. Nice to meet you. Fran
Glad to wander onto your blog and know I will enjoy following you as I learn to quilt. I love to feel fabrics and create outfits for my daughters and grand daughters. Now, I’m learning to quilt and love the designing element to using fabrics and colors!
I began 3 blogs to cover my hobbies. One is paper crafting, another is textiles, and the other is a spiritual journey called climbing vertical. I love to write almost as much as sew!
It’s fun to read what others experience in their hobbies, so thanks for sharing a little of your love of textiles! You’ll see me often, I think, because I’m adding you to my Reader!
Thanks again!
